Janine Ames is an executive search and leadership consultant based in Spencer Stuart’s Stamford office. She partners with companies to attract executive talent and to optimize the performance of their current executives. An expert in executive assessment and development, as well as CEO and CXO succession planning, Janine works with individual executives, leadership teams and boards of directors.

Janine has more than 30 years of experience in strategy consulting, talent management, executive recruiting and leadership consulting across a variety of industry sectors, with particular depth in business and professional services.

Over her Spencer Stuart career, Janine has advised hundreds of clients on attracting and developing their senior talent. She is particularly passionate about helping companies achieve their diversity goals through unbiased assessment and inclusive talent strategies. She is a frequent speaker and writer on gender diversity topics.

Before joining Spencer Stuart, Janine led recruiting and professional development for the North American technology practice at McKinsey, where she had worked earlier in her career as a strategy consultant.

In between roles at McKinsey, Janine helped launch a startup, LiveAdvice, an online expert services marketplace for small businesses. As the CFO and head of strategy, Janine helped raise $60 million in venture capital and grew the company to nearly 100 employees before negotiating its sale to a strategic buyer.

Janine holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. She is certified in Spencer Stuart’s Advanced Leadership Profile (ALP) proprietary assessment methodology.
