Please RSVP for our next chapter dinner on Wednesday, March 27, 2019!
Location: The Buckhead Club
Agenda: Reception 6:00-6:30pm
Dinner and Program 6:30-8:30pm
Program: “HOW DID THEY MISS THAT?” or Lessons in Board Oversight
With the recent indictment of Elizabeth Holmes, founder of the now defunct company Theranos, despite her all-star board; Tesla’s negotiated settlement with the SEC resulting in a new Board Chair and two new board members; and locally, the corporate turmoil at MiMedx with the company now under scrutiny by several federal agencies…..there is still much to be learned about Board Oversight and Accountability.
Our panel will discuss the dangers of boards not paying close enough attention to the operations of the companies for which they have oversight, and the personal reputational risk that comes with serving on a public company board. As preparation for the our meeting, we strongly encourage you to read “Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup” by WSJ reporter, John Carreyrou.
