Board Oversight of CEO Political Speak - 2020 will prove to be an interesting year as the Presidential campaign heightens, climate change continues to reveal itself in various ways, the #me too campaign continues and other societal issues are in the media.  We welcome back Holly Gregory, co-chair of Sidley's global Corporate Governance and Executive Compensation practice to speak to us about the board oversight of the CEO speaking out on important societal issues.  CEO activism comes with both risks and rewards for the company. Some questions that will be addressed include:

Should CEOS take a public position on societal issues that are not overly tied to their bottom lines?

Do Americans believe that CEOS have a duty to speak up on contentious issues?

Do Americans favor CEOs who voice their opinions and are they likely to buy products./services from companies that take stands?
