Washington DC Chapter Event

Washington DC Chapter Event

Dear Women Corporate Directors - Washington DC Chapter members

Welcome to the coming of Fall in DC. We hope your summers were both interesting and relaxing.

We’re writing to update you on our meeting plans for the rest of the year. As you will recall from our last notice, we had hoped to gather in person at long last on September 28th for a session to be hosted by our good friends at Vinson & Elkins.  While the Delta virus variant has upended those plans, we are not deterred!  We are just reorganized.

Our speakers for the two programs scheduled for the second half of the year have graciously agreed to switch dates, and the dates remain the same.

Tuesday September 28th - 6:30 PM  Please register at Washington DC Chapter Event (womencorporatedirectors.org)  A Zoom link will be provided once you’re registered.

Our very own Julie Bell Lindsey, CEO of the Center for Audit Quality, will share her thoughts on the key issues at the SEC (Securities & Exchange Commission) and the PCAOB (Public Company Accounting Oversight Board) from the perspective of the audit profession in this ever changing regulatory environment.

AND we’re happy to announce that our caterer of choice, the remarkable RIS, will once again offer dinner delivery to our registered participants on 9/28.

  • You must register for the meeting at Washington DC Chapter Event (womencorporatedirectors.org)and then tell Alma Martinez via email, [email protected], if you want to enjoy the dinner delivery option by Wednesday, September 15
  • Alma will send those who opt in the menu choices by Friday, September 17
  • You will then make you selection and email info as requested to [email protected] no later than Wednesday, September 22
  • Your dinner, with reheating instructions, will be delivered to your door before 5:30pm, Tuesday, September 28

Tuesday November 16th - 6:00 Reception followed by 6:30 program (venue TBD)

Vinson & Elkins will host us - hopefully in a restaurant! - for a conversation on a most timely topic: The Special Purpose Acquisition Corporation, commonly known as SPAC. Sarah Morgan, co-head of V&Es Mergers and Acquisitions and Capital Markets practice, and Brenda Lenehan, a partner in that group, will share their insights on this ever more popular vehicle for funding transactions of all types, and how boards might approach them.

You won’t want to miss either of these timely and important presentations. So please take a moment today to RSVP for 9/28, and save-the-date for 11/16!

One last thing - you should have received your 2021-22 WCD annual dues statement within the past few weeks. Our goal is to have our chapter fully paid by the end of September. If you have not already done so, please send your remittance as soon as possible. If you have not received an invoice, let us know.
