Future of Work: Reskilling and upskilling strategies

Wednesday, 12 October 2022, 8:00 – 10:00 CET

Dear Ladies,

WCD Netherlands and Boston Consulting Group (BCG) would like to invite you to an inspiring breakfast session on Wednesday 12 October 2022 at the offices of BCG in Amsterdam.

The World Economic Forum estimates that more than half of all employees around the world need to upskill or reskill by 2025 to embrace the changing nature of jobs. Many organizations in these situations are turning toward reskilling to build the talent they cannot acquire or productively deploy, as they are trying to reimagine how they bring learning to a scale of thousands of people and at speed. And yet a 2020 global BCG study showed that “talent and skills” was the second-most underinvested area in corporate transformation efforts.

It therefore goes without saying that up- and reskilling the workforce is a pivotal challenge for companies to tackle. The topic has transitioned from a CHRO priority to a key priority on many CEO agendas, and therefore a top priority for non-executive boards too. During our breakfast session, we will briefly touch upon the current lay of the land before diving more deeply into what it takes to successfully up- and reskill at scale. How to recognize which critical capabilities gaps are threatening the future of (y)our organizations, now and in the years to come? What are successful strategies to execute up- and reskilling at speed and at scale? What are the key pitfalls and how to avoid these? And of course: which roles could (or should!) Supervisory Boards play to ensure this vital topic receives the required attention and investments to safeguard the company’s future?
