 WCD’s Global Institute, held annually, is attended by members from around the globe and features the Family Business Institute, two days of Institute programming, and networking dinners. Breakout sessions are also offered on various topics of interest. WCD also provides opportunities for our members to interview for live board opportunities around the world as a benefit of membership.

Asia Pacific Institute

Theme: Resilient Leadership for a Disruptive Era

 The Asia Pacific region has started to move the needle on increasing gender parity on boards over the past several years, but there is still room to grow. WCD’s Asia Pacific Institute creates an opportunity to hear from regional corporate, governmental and executive leaders who share thought-provoking ideas that will help members to add to their arsenal of knowledge. In addition, our Asia Pacific Institute also serves as a vehicle to introduce our members to companies seeking board members, especially in countries that have quotas for gender diversity.

Recent studies have shown that trust in corporations is declining around the world. Companies now need to address negative public perceptions and to focus on shared value, on ethical and sustainable practices and with leadership who follow a moral compass. Today’s business leaders are expected to act in the interest of both their shareholders and society.  The event was host by the WCD London co-chairs, Melanie Richards and Noel Harwerth.

WCD hosts programming for the Americas region each year. In 2019, WCD is planning an intimate event in Santiago, Chile on January 16, which will feature panels and roundtable discussions on cognitive and artificial intelligence, disruptive trends, identifying and mitigating fraudulent acts, and the board’s role in oversight of corporate culture.
