Mental resilience (a topic) in the Boardroom today
Thursday, 27 May 2021, 8:30 – 10:00 (Amsterdam)

Dear WCD members and friends,

In an ever faster changing world, influenced by COVID-19, we need to look again into the essential ingredients of our leadership. Come to a new understanding of our underlying assumptions. And what better moment then to reflect on these essential ingredients in this 'Month of Mental Health'.

Do our boardroom discussions typically focus on targets, stakeholder dialogue, shareholder value, margins, five-year plans, quarterly results, headcount and competition and marketing plans? Are we ignoring the elephant in the boardroom - mental resilience? Board members, CEOs and Board Directors set the culture and values of a company, but often mental resilience is a missing agenda item. Ignore it and we ignore risk. A failure at board level to proactively address the issue of mental resilience only continues to push it further underneath the organisational radar and teh consequences are having a huge impact on making true on the company's purpose, on reputation and the bottom line. How do we facilitate and inspire courage and mental resilience in our organisations?

We look forward to enter into a dialogue with you on how to facilitate and inspire courage and mental resilience in our own Boards, in our own organisations. How do we continue to create diverse & inclusive teams and organisations? How to foster a safe environment? How to be(come) sustainably successful as a Board, as a company?
